TELL A TALE: Beaver

My mom, brother and I went hiking in the woods of Glenn Otto park in Troutdale. The first interesting thing that I found was a small chopped down tree. I looked at it, thought, and tried to figure out what would have chopped this down. The tree’s stump was shaped like a cone, and lying around it’s base were wood shavings. These wood shavings, led me to believe it was chopped down by a beaver. But I wanted more evidence to point to it really meaning a beaver had done this.

So we continued the hike, but I didn’t find any beaver tracks. When we arrived at the river there wasn’t much there other than the awesome layers of clay that I told you about in another article.

When we were about to leave the river, I found what looked like beaver dung balls. It looked like it, because it was mostly partly digested bark inside of these balls. I used a large stick to inspect the inside.

Further on the way back I found a lot of small stumps that looked like they were chopped by beavers.

When I got home I researched on these things, and discovered that the strange balls were actually beaver dung balls, just like I thought!

So the story that I see here is that a beaver was coming out of the river to “do his thing” on land, and then decided to go to work in the woods. Now I didn’t witness that, but I can imagine that it may have happened that way.

This is one of the many ways scientists study. And it is also one way to study God’s creation.

I thought that was an amazing adventure I went on! The conclusion is I tracked down a beaver from either where it began or ended! I never saw the actual beaver, but I know it was there.

“But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee: Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.”
Job 12:7 8
