Scallop: A Fossil’s Story

On February 11th 2017, my family and I were walking off the coast of Yaquina Bay, in Newport, Oregon. When my mom and dad were talking to a nice couple with their dog, I was further exploring the beach.  I was walking along the wet sand, I saw a strange seashell that looked like it was encased in rock. I could tell it was a fossil. This was my very first. I ran back to show it to my mom, dad, and brother who was with us.

After about 2 minutes of waiting for my parents to be done talking, I showed it to them. I was blessed and thankful that God answered my prayer, to find a fossil of my own.

The fossil that I found contained a handful of different kinds of creatures like, a scallop, two snail like creatures, an angel wing shell, and a complete clam and a clam shell fragment. What really fascinated me was the scallop, because it has an interesting story. Only part of it’s shell was found, the other parts were nowhere to be found. So this tells me that during the flood, it was torn apart by the powerful force. The half I found was torn off and removed from the rest of itself, split apart, covered in sand and mud, and fossilized.  The part that I don’t have and it’s bottom half was buried somewhere else. So most of the scallop shell I found was complete, and this fossil must have washed onto shore by the waves of the ocean. Only a small part of the scallop was missing.

This is what I believe are a few pieces of the story of this fossil, on how the scallop died, by being covered in sediment, in the most scariest event in earth’s history only a few thousand years ago.

Even though it was the most scariest event on earth, Noah and his family did obey and trust God. They knew He was protecting them, along with two of every kind of creature that was with them on the ark. Those who were on the ark, (which was just Noah and his family) were saved.

All those who rejected God’s message through Noah, perished, which will be the same in the end. Jesus will rapture those who put their trust and faith in Him. Many will be left on earth and there will be a time of terrible tribulation. But God is loving, so He will send out angels to tell the gospel message of Salvation a final time. He will give people a final opportunity to repent and be saved. Those who repent, will receive faith, and will be willing to be martyred for Christ, as the evil world leader, the anti-Christ will bring death upon them. Then they too, will meet Jesus. But those who do not repent, will choose the way of anti-Christ.

And the bible does say, that those who reject Jesus and His Word, will perish (lost and separated forever from God, in suffering) at His final judgment, and removal of all wickedness, by fire falling from heaven. (Revelation 20:9)

I encourage you to receive Jesus, and never give up on following Him and His Word, no matter how difficult it may seem.

He does not want anyone to perish, but to be saved and have life with Him now and forever. (2 Peter 3:9) God bless!
