Maximus’ Frog Adventure

frogger

On my adventure I saw the world’s largest frog. The giant bull frog! It was my first time to see a frog this big. They are great diggers. They dig their holes to stay away from predators. Bull frogs are excellent swimmers. They are good at using camouflage. Camouflage is a trait that helps animals blend in with their surroundings. They also have powerful hind legs. This makes catching one a challenge.

When I first got to the creek I saw some girls lurking to find frogs. They both were wearing pretty dresses and fancy shoes. As I saw them holding buckets, I could see they liked the idea of catching a frog, but were too nervous to actually touch one.

I decided to step in and help them. I jumped into the creek and noticed a hole in the side of the dirt bank. I stuck my hand in up to my elbow. When I reached both hands in two different holes, I could feel the chambers coming together. I felt a slimy frog inside. I grabbed onto it, but it slipped away.

I kept searching. The girls were a big help spotting the frogs and cheering me on. I jumped with my whole body into the dirty creek. I saw one swimming away towards a pipe drain. Immediately rushed in and tried to grab on, but there was so much brown bubbly gunk it was hard to see. I ended up wading through this bubbly gunk almost up to my waist, and decided I didn’t like this.

I then spotted a big puddle and found a frog there. I grabbed it and finally caught the first bull frog. The girls were standing by with the bucket. In went the frog. I named him Prince. My daddy then, pointed to one on the hill nearby. And I rushed to grab it too. It hopped quickly away into a puddle. I rushed to grab it and now I had captured the second bull frog. This one I named Bull, he was the biggest. The girls were really happy to have frogs in their buckets. They were thankful. We released the frogs, said good-bye and went our separate ways.

My mom told me I was a hero. Jumping in to dirty waters to help someone else and save the day. I really didn’t think I was a hero. I just was doing what I like to do. Catch frogs and be kind to people. Then my mom, reminded me of Jesus. The true hero. He came down from heaven to help people stuck in their dirty sin. In His kindness He went to the cross, to help save a sinner just like me. I am thankful Jesus was willing to come and help me, to get me out of the dirty sin, wash me clean and rescue me forever. And I am thankful I have been given this life to be kind and help others.

I am also thankful for the frogs He created. One of so many creatures that are a reminder of a Mighty God Who created them, as well as creating you and me. He created frogs on the 6th day. He also created man on the 6th day. This God loves all His creation, but definitely loves people most. He created people for relationship with him and one another. This is broken from sin, and Jesus came in His kindness, went to the cross, died and rose again, to bring His children to salvation, to fix what was broken, and create relationship for today, tomorrow and forever.

This whole adventure was a gigantic blessing. The gigantic bull frog. Created by a gigantic, powerful, loving and kind God. He blessed me with this wonderful day. I am thankful.

And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind: cattle and creeping things and wild animals of the earth of every kind.” And it was so. God made the wild animals of the earth of every kind, and the cattle of every kind, and everything that creeps upon the ground of every kind. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:24-27

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. Romans 3:23-25

if you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10: 9 & 10
