Creation and the End Times

We hear all over the media, on tv shows, and more, that in the next 20 years or next century, that some of the wildlife, and their habitats will be gone from this planet, due to climate change. Many people and famous naturalists say “it’s up to us” to save Planet Earth, save the wildlife, and their habitats. Is it really “up to us”?

The next two creatures are examples to show that some animals can survive in harsh and fluctuating times without our help.

#1 Creation: Polar Bear

Many scientists believe polar bears are threatened right now, and on the verge of extinction. They say this is mostly due to climate change. However, even if the earth warms up a few degrees, and caused more sea ice to melt, it doesn’t seem it would be a huge problem for the polar bears. In the past, polar bears survived what is called the Medieval Warm Period. History shows polar bears have survived through the fluctuating changes in the climate.

Also, it has been recently discovered that polar bears in the Hudson Bay in Canada are finding new ways to survive. Summers are lasting longer. The ice that supports them in hunting seals, is melting. Therefore, polar bears retreat to the mainland, where they hunt beluga whales, and other prey. What is fascinating is they swim out into open water, perch on a small rock, and wait very patiently. At just the right moment as a beluga whale passes by, the polar bear pounces on its prey, and drags it to shore to feast.

These new hunting strategies are extra challenging for the polar bears, but by God’s given instincts they are adapting well. Polar bears mostly feed on the blubbery rich seals on the sea ice. With these new hunting strategies, and new items on their menu, polar bear populations will survive through the longer spring and summers.

#2 Creation: African Elephant

African elephants are one of the most endangered animals in the world. The main reason is due to illegal poaching for their ivory tusks.

Drought is also a big issue in South Africa. Droughts do affect elephants and dry up their water holes. It also affects the elephant’s ability to have enough food to thrive on.

What’s amazing is a handful of male African elephants have learned a new way to survive these difficult times. With most of their food supply gone, in order to reach higher to eat from the acacia tree, they began a new behavior. They were documented pushing their 5-ton bodies into standing position on back legs, stretching their trunks as high as they would go to reach the fruits, in desperation to survive. This is a powerful display of perseverance and strength God puts into His creation.

Hopefully these intelligent handful of males who know how to do it, will pass this survival trick on to the next generation.

Africa has been known to be at high risk for drought. Poaching is the biggest reason for the elephant’s decline in numbers. Drought also is a sorrowful event for God’s creation, it’s all part of the sin fallen world, and things that need to be made right.

Hope

Now back to that question, is it really “up to us” to save the planet?

It’s true that when God created this world, He gave man dominion over all His creation. God told us to take great care of it. But no matter how hard we try to take care of God’s creation, everything on earth is corrupted by sin. Eventually God will create a new heaven and new earth.

Environmentalists use the climate change “idea” as a scare and control tactic. The climate has fluctuated throughout history. For example, the Ice Age period after Noah’s flood, which lasted about 500 years.

Evidence from the Medieval warm periods, to the “Little” ice age that followed from 1350 to 1850 show this fluctuation. The bible proves that God is in control of everything, (including our climate) not man. (Job 28:25-27, and Job 37:6)

There is something that is far more important than saving animals or saving the planet.

That is, the saving of souls of people who are lost in sin.

The bible says “And the world passeth away…but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever”. (1 John 2:17), which means, this world in its current condition is not meant to last forever.

God does not want anyone to perish in hell. Souls last forever either in the lake of fire, or the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus says in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life”.

The bible says that all who receive Jesus will be in the Lord’s heavenly Kingdom. There is hope that the animals which have gone extinct will be in the new heaven and earth. It can be sad to think about animals we love (like our pets) that have passed away. There is hope, that we will see our family pets again. There is joy of knowing we will see our family of God and live with them and Jesus forever.

The signs around the world show we are living in the “End Times”, and that our world is heating up with sin and wickedness. There is still time to receive Christ into your life. And live the life He wants you to live, before it’s too late.

So ultimately, it’s not up to us to save this planet. Man cannot save this planet. It’s under a sin curse, due to man’s own rebellion and sin. In His time, God will make all things new.

This is maximus adventures, over and out!
